Ew, window shopping.

Shopping Spree News: Man gets $500 in groceries during shopping spree

Really?  That's all he could get?  $500 in 90 seconds?  That's all he could get in 90 seconds?  It really bothers me when people don't take the biggest opportunity of their lives seriously.  If you can't say anything nice though....So just enjoy this story because it's actually really nice and you're awful if it doesn't move you.

Bill Oswald tells Robin Gosser, a Buehler's Fresh Foods employee, to get more hot dogs Tuesday during a 90-second shopping spree. Oswald entered his name for the sweep, sponsored by Pepsi, and had Gosser pick up laundry detergent, coffee and meats, totaling more than $500.  Valerie Boateng/Tribune.  Source.

COSHOCTON -- Bill Oswald was happy when he left the grocery store with a full cart Tuesday morning, especially because he had only $65 left for the month before he entered Buehler's.
The 78-year-old Coshocton resident was the winnerof a supermarket sweep, which gave him 90 seconds to grab as many groceries as he could. The event was sponsored by Pepsi Cola Bottling Co., of Zanesville, which paid for more than $500 grocery bill.
"I've never won anything before, probably because I don't usually enter," Oswald said.
He registered for the sweep at Buehler's, and Ben Sigler, perishable manager at the store, pulled Oswald's name as the winning entry.
Because Oswald is a senior citizen, Pepsi allowed a Buehler's employee to do the running for him, and Robin Gosser mentally checked off the location of the items Oswald said he wanted. Gosser took careful aim at the laundry detergent aisle before the 9 a.m. countdown started.
Employees able to leave their stations stood by and cheered for Gosser as she grabbed several jugs of detergent, then went for the coffee aisle where she loaded tubs of decaffeinated coffee. Then Gosser hit the meat aisle. She tossed packages of hot dogs, chicken, hams, bacon, hamburger and steaks into the cart.
"Thanks Pepsi, for making me a winner," Oswald said as he posed for a photo with Ray Paynter, the Pepsi representative, and Denise Nine, Buehler's manager.
Paynter said Pepsi has conducted similar sweeps throughout its service area as a way to give back to the community.
"We chose Buehler's as one of our best customers and made one of their customers very happy," Paynter said.
Oswald said the extra groceries mean a lot because he is a senior citizen living on fixed income.
His friend, Joanne Starcher, hugged the store officials and Paynter and smiled as she said, "I got to have a free coffee, too."

Freaky Friday

Jamie Lee Curtis works the shopping spree like an expert.  Here's the breakdown of her Oscar-winning montage:

Number of shots of credit cards being exchanged: 7
Number of dresses thrown into the dressing room:  13 (best guess)
Number of shoes tried on and modeled for camera:  8
Plus one fast paced haircut and one ear piercing.

A slow motion shot of newly confident Jamie Lee Curtis exiting the boutique (not wearing the same clothes she wore in...everybody does that, right?) finalizes the montage.  Unfortunately, her slow mo "look at me I'm so hot now" sequence is interrupted when she suddenly and embarrassingly loses her composure (see also: Mean Girls, 17 Again, She's All That and Miss Congeniality).  Now that's acting!
