Evident in the below video, Michael Jackson knew the ins and outs of the shopping spree. He never stops shopping (a true shopping spree should be rushed, disorienting and haphazard). He just points and buys, points and buys, points at things he already pointed at, etc. It's amazing footage of the King of Pop and must be watched. What does he buy? Lots of tawdry stuff that he, admittedly, already has lots of. Notice that he shops with the manager and just points to what he wants. He doesn't question the cost, instead choosing to believe he will be getting a bargain by buying in bulk. Unlike us, he doesn't schlep up to the counter with his discounted rags or wait in line with the other drones. Instead, everything he pointed at will show up at the Neverland Ranch doorstep and, sure enough, he'll wonder when it was that he bought all these Rococo style vases, cherub paintings, and marble chess sets. When questioned about the taste level of things he buys, he says in an obvious tone, "It's my taste." As if that's the only reason one needs to buy something.
If this video makes you kind of sad....well, I'm sorry. But what I can say is that I'm sure Michael Jackson is in heaven and I'm sure heaven has the biggest, tackiest (but that's his taste!) Las Vegas style shopping mall geared to attract tourists that is always filled to its ornate painted ceilings with gloriously gilded faux antiques.
